Today, year 3 children started on their art journey. The children were very excited to come into the Art studio. They worked in small groups of 4-6 and designed canvases with the theme of, “What does art mean to you?”
Many of the children responded to this question by using a variety of materials such as pens, pencils and felt tips to show their love of art. After we finished, children had an opportunity to go around to each group and have a mini critique. They spoke about what they liked about their fellow classmates work of art.
This continued for the whole morning, and by the end of the session, we had 6 beautiful canvases that all of the year 3 children contributed. Stay tuned for next week, when we begin to look at Stone Age art with a particular emphasis on the cave drawings in Altamira Spain.
