Since the start of term, Year 6 learnt a Soul song called ‘Do what you want to’. In this song, the singer remembers a time when a friend upset them, but they are now ready to make peace, as they recognise how important the friendship is. The singer wants to be friends, but it is up to the friend to ‘do what you want to’.
Using the glockenspiels, keyboards and ukuleles the children rehearsed a tricky instrumental section of the song in pairs or learnt the chords to accompany the entire song (they could choose their preference.) They were then given time to also come up with their own original improvisation to accompany the song. Watch how they have been getting on below!
