This week, Year 2 were thrilled to delve deeper into Syd’s adventures with his grandfather in the book “Grandad’s Island.” We learned that their journey led them to a tropical island. To gain insight into the experience of being on a tropical island, we engaged in an immersive session that involved activating and exploring our five senses.
During a class session, we enjoyed the sweet scent and delicious flavours of tropical fruits. We also explored the varied wildlife found on tropical islands through research, listened to the natural sounds of these environments, and wrapped up our exploration by getting a hands-on feel of sand and shells.
Our writing lessons have kept us busy this week, and in the upcoming sessions, we’ll apply the knowledge we’ve gained to craft a story similar to “Grandad’s Island.”
