This week, Year 5 had a fantastic and informative visit from the London Fire Brigade, who came to teach us all about fire safety. The session was both engaging and educational, leaving us with lots of important knowledge and practical skills to stay safe.
One of the highlights of the visit was playing Fire Cluedo! We put on our detective hats and used our investigative skills to figure out what could have started a fire in a picture. It was a fun way to learn how to identify potential fire hazards in everyday situations.
We also learned some vital fire safety tips, such as:
How often to check our smoke alarms (hint: once a month!).
The safest ways to charge devices, avoiding overheating or overloading sockets.
What to do if there is smoke in a room or building — including the life-saving advice to stay low and get out quickly.
To make sure we really understood these lessons, we even acted out some fire safety scenarios. Through role play, we practiced what to do in emergencies, ensuring we feel confident and prepared if we ever need to respond to a fire.
A big thank you to the London Fire Brigade for sharing their expertise with us and for helping to keep our Year 5 students safe and informed.
