Year 5 has had a busy week. In English, we have been writing poems to enter a competition. We read ‘Peter the Orange Parrot’ to help us come up with some ideas to write about. The winner will get their poems published.
We have been practising using a parenthesis (brackets) in our work and finding out what information we can use in them.
In maths, we have continued to practise multiplying, especially by 10,100 and 1000 and some of us have started to use this to help us convert between measurements e.g. to help us find how many centimetres there are in 98 millimetres.
This week we had our third session of Bounce where Chime has been teaching us how we can help look after our mental health.
Finally, we welcomed our parents into school this week, where we learnt about people in the world who do not have enough food to eat or clean water to drink. We then decided how we could raise money to help those who don’t have enough.
We are looking forward to next week when 5F and 5ZJ will be going on their first school trip of this term.
