This week, we have had an incredible time celebrating Maths Week! This year the focus has been oracy. Oracy is the ability to express ideas and communicate clearly through spoken language. It involves skills like speaking confidently, listening carefully, and taking part in conversations and discussions. Our school has been buzzing with excitement as pupils and staff engaged in a variety of mathematical challenges designed to inspire a love for numbers, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
One of the highlights was our codebreaking puzzles, which had everyone thinking critically and working collaboratively. These puzzles required us to apply a wide range of mathematical skills—from logical reasoning to arithmetic—and provided a fantastic opportunity to see how maths is used in the real world.
Each day, we had the opportunity to solve some fun, brain-teasing puzzles and it has been wonderful to see so many children enthusiastically tackling these challenges.
Outside, our interactive puzzles have been a real hit, encouraging children to think on their feet and engage with maths in a hands-on way. To ensure everyone has time to enjoy them, we’re excited to announce that these puzzles will remain up for another week. This gives both parents and children the chance to take part, so don’t forget to stop by and have a go!
A huge thank you to everyone who has participated in making this week a success. Maths truly is everywhere, and it’s been amazing to see the joy and enthusiasm it can spark in our school community.
We can’t wait to continue our mathematical adventures—let’s keep solving, exploring, and enjoying maths together!
