This year, our Year 5 students had the special opportunity to host a Harvest Festival and collect food donations for a local charity. It was an exciting and meaningful project that allowed the children to actively engage with the community and learn valuable lessons about helping those in need.
Yesterday, Yaer 5 had the chance to bag up all the food we collected and walk it over to the charity we chose to support. The experience wasn’t just about delivering food – it was a learning journey from start to finish. The charity staff welcomed us warmly and shared insights into how their operation works. We learned where the food comes from, how long they’ve been serving the community, and, most importantly, how they ensure people receive the items they need and like. Rather than being given random food, families can choose items based on their preferences, ensuring nothing goes to waste and everyone gets food they enjoy.
It was wonderful for the students to witness firsthand the hard work and dedication that goes into running such an important service. The charity team works tirelessly to support those in need, and seeing their passion and commitment was inspiring for all of us.
We’re incredibly proud of Year 5 for their generosity and dedication to this project. This was not only a fantastic way to celebrate the Harvest Festival but also an opportunity to instill a sense of community, empathy, and kindness in our students.
