This half term, we’ve been exploring the fascinating topic of Light and Dark with the children. They’ve been thoroughly engaged in hands on activities and creative exploration!

Shadow Play
The children have loved creating shadow puppets using light and discovering how shadows change depending on the angle and distance of the light. They have been experimenting with torches and learning how to make their own shapes come alive on the wall. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity and curiosity shine!

Exploring Light and Changes
We have been observing how light changes in different settings, such as when it’s bright outside or when the lights are dimmed. The children are beginning to understand how light helps us see and how it can be used in fun and imaginative ways.

Owl Babies and Nocturnal Animals
Our core book this week is still Owl Babies, which ties beautifully into our theme. Through the story, the children have been learning about nocturnal animals like owls, bats, and foxes, as well as how these creatures live at night.

Nursery Rhymes, Phonics, and Maths
We have also been enjoying learning our new nursery rhymes and focusing on the sound ‘n’ in phonics. The children have been fantastic at finding things that start with the initial sound ‘n’ it’s been so exciting to see them make connections in their learning.

In maths, we’ve been counting to 10 and practicing counting out objects up to 10. The children are developing confidence in their number skills through fun and practical activities.
