Monteagle kicked off World Book Day in style, taking part by dressing-up as book characters on March 3rd. Lots of teachers entered into the spirit of the day. We saw a dramatic Cruella de Vil and a lovely Queen of Hearts, while our English Specialist, Mrs Gregoire, came as Mildred Hubble from The Worst Witch.
During the week, the children were doing activities based around a book called The Lonely Beast. From talking to the children and looking at the work on display, it is clear they took the Beast to their hearts – he was just a misunderstood character!
Following on from this, the year 5 and Year 6 children had a visit from the author M.G. Leonard. She has written a fantastic book called Beetle Boy. M.G brought along some fantastic photos of beetles, that she has studied in order to write her book. M.G. gave the children super advice about the writing process and the children asked her some interesting questions: What are you afraid of? How many words are there in your book?
And, to round the month off, the book fair is back! It runs from Friday 11th March to Wednesday 16th March.
