What an exciting week it has been in Year 5! The classrooms have been buzzing with creativity and enthusiasm as we transformed into journalists to write newspaper reports inspired by our class text, The Princess’ Blankets.
In the story, an unusual event unfolds in the village—a mysterious man arrives at the palace claiming he can use magic to save the Princess. Our budding reporters stepped into the shoes of journalists, investigating the event and reporting the dramatic developments with skill and flair.
To make our newspaper reports as engaging and accurate as possible, we focused on using key writing features, including:
Time adverbials to sequence the events clearly, such as “Earlier that day” or “At the break of dawn.”
Eye-catching headlines to grab attention.
Witness statements to give authenticity and varied perspectives on the events.
We are incredibly proud of their hard work and creativity this week.
