As part of the year 3 History topic, Romans, the pupils have been making Roman scutums (shields). The children found out that most scutums were painted red, as a symbol of the Roman Empire’s power, and that the usually had golden winged designs on them.
We are really impressed with the final products and cannot wait to display them in our classes and around our corridors
