We are thrilled to announce that our nursery has introduced a wonderful new book this week: “Sharing a Shell” by Julia Donaldson. This delightful story has quickly become a favourite among the children, sparking their imagination and encouraging a love for the ocean and its many fascinating creatures.

“Sharing a Shell” is a heart warming tale about friendship and cooperation set in a vibrant underwater world. As we read about the adventures of the hermit crab and his new shell mates, the children have been captivated by the colourful illustrations and engaging storyline.

To make the story come alive even more, we have been incorporating some exciting activities into our daily routine:

Counting Sea Shells: The children have been busy counting different types of sea shells, enhancing their numerical skills and learning about the various shapes and sizes of shells found in the ocean.

Describing Sea Creatures: Inspired by the book, our little explorers have been writing descriptions of some of the sea creatures featured in the story. From the friendly anemone to the playful bristle worm, the children are learning new vocabulary and expressing their creativity through words and drawings.

These activities not only reinforce the themes of the book but also provide a hands-on learning experience that is both educational and fun.

We invite you to ask your children about “Sharing a Shell” and their favourite parts of the story. You might be surprised by their enthusiasm and the wonderful details they remember!
