This week, Year 6 learnt a new catchy Jazz song called ‘Singing, Swinging Star!’ After learning about the history of Jazz music, they learnt the song and began learning an instrumental section on their keyboards and glockenspiels. They are also starting to read stave notation too. Those who have access to a tuned musical instrument can practice their instrumental at home using the musical notation above.
You can see how they got on below in both learning the song and playing their instruments.
In 6F you will see Prospero and Millie on the glockenspiels and Alfa and Spencer playing their keyboards. Both sets of learning partners even challenged themselves to play in unison which is no easy skill.
In 6A you will see how well they are coming on learning the song as a class.
In 6C you can watch Mia being an excellent keyboard teacher to her learning partner Melissa as well as Isaan using his musical notation to good effect, playing the first section of the piece at exactly the right tempo.
Well done Year 6!
