Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to inform you that staff who are members of the National Education Union (NEU) have voted to take strike action. The majority of teachers within the Borough belong to the NEU trade union.
NEU members have voted for industrial action on:
• 1st February 2023
• 2nd March 2023,
• 15th and 16th March 2023.
In the event of a strike, the Department for Education expects the Head Teacher to take all reasonable steps to keep the school open for as many pupils as possible.
Given the high numbers of staff that will be striking we are only able to safely open the school to children in the Nursery, ARP and Caterpillar Class. For children in these classes, the school day will run as usual. As this is a strike day, teachers will not be setting remote education. However, children can access BBC Bitesize, Bug Club, Spelling Frame and Timetable Rockstars. It would also be great if students could also read for pleasure.
I will keep you fully updated of the arrangements for your child for the future strike days closer to the date each strike action day.
I apologise for the disruption this may cause.
Best Wishes,
Sara
