This week was the first week one of our EYFS classes went swimming, and they did fantastically! All the children got into the pool and played really well. They were laughing, diving under and paddling, whilst playing with all the toys and floats that were on offer during their time in the pool. The staff were really impressed with the transitioning of the children, who got changed and dressed for swimming so well.
The swimming team worked with the children, with some of them being so confident to swim independently, as well as one particular child diving under to pick up toys from the pools floor. This was fantastic to see and it surprised all staff to see the child doing this throughout the whole swimming time.
Other children in school were using food to create animals linked to the book ‘Dear Zoo’ which we are currently reading. The children were using bananas and currants to create a giraffe with spots. Some used little eyes to stick onto the banana too for fun. This was a bit of a tricky activity for the children, but they gave it a good go, as well as most of them eating the banana at the end of the activity.
Finally, messy play with colours were used in one of our classes. Some were using dinosaurs to make footprints on paper, whilst other children poured paint into a large tray and mixed colours together to make brown. Very messy but very enjoyable all the same.
Take a look at the pictures below to see the children having a wonderful time!
