In Year 2, we are learning to use stories to compose music. Our first step is to learn the rhythm of a piece of text from ‘Walking in the Jungle,’ by Julie Lacome. The story is very exciting, exploring all the different animals you find in the jungle. The text is written like a poem, so has a natural rhythm and makes use of repetition (ostinato).
The line of poetry we are performing is:
‘Wading through the jungle, what do you see? Can you hear a noise? What could it be? Snap, snap.’
Can you say the line of poetry while clapping the rhythm? Can you identify the words in the rhythm we are performing?
