There were many types of bombs that landed on Dagenham. The V2 bomb was powered by a rocket. As soon as it ran out of fuel, it would simply drop from the sky.
Those who were lucky enough to have a garden, were given the resources to build their own Anderson Shelters.
We also discovered if the houses we lived in were hit by a bomb. Luckily most oif our houses were not, but some were.
