It’s been lovely to have our reception children back after their Easter break!
All the children were happy to meet their friends and all enjoyed sharing their news about how they had spent their Easter break with their families. They have also started reading a new book, ‘Emily Brown and the Thing’, by Cressida Cowell. This is a charming and a very funny book. This book explores the way children use their imaginative play as a way to deal with their own anxieties and concerns. All the children have been busy writing about their favourite toy which they would like to take with them at bedtime. In Maths, children have been learning about the composition of numbers. This week, the children reviewed the composition of the numbers 6 to 9 using the ‘5 and a bit’ structure, and then began to explore how 10 could be composed. They also developed a sense of the ‘ten-ness of 10’ by making their own collections of 10 objects.
Indeed, this week has been a very busy week for reception children!
Just a reminder- Kindly get your child to read their e-books assigned to them on the Collins portal.
Happy reading!
