This week in nursery, we’ve had a wonderful time diving into all things autumn! Our book of the week is called, We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt, which has inspired us to go on our very own leaf hunting adventure. The children loved collecting leaves of all shapes, sizes, and colours. This activity led us into a lively discussion about the changing seasons. We noticed together that many trees are now losing their leaves as we move from autumn into winter, and the weather is getting colder.
We used the collected leaves for some creative art projects! The children made lovely leaf crowns, as well as hedgehog and tree-themed art, all using their special finds.
In addition to our autumn adventures, we also took time to create poppy artwork for Remembrance Day. This activity helped introduce the idea of remembrance and honouring others, in a way that was meaningful and accessible to them.
