Our visit this week from ‘Sphere Science‘ was fantastic and the children thoroughly enjoyed their workshop. Our focus was WIND. We were set the challenge of designing and constructing turbines, to rotate and hopefully work well enough to create and harvest electricity.
In groups of 3, the children set about designing different shaped and sized wind turbines. Every group created their own individual versions of what they thought would be best, and following some strict and rigorous conditions, set about testing and then tweaking their designs. Making the most efficient turbine was no easy feat, but each group achieved success – enjoying themselves thoroughly along the way.
We love being challenged in year 6 and we love science even more!
