Year 5 has been learning how to record their musical compositions, or write scores, using Kodaly’s rhythm syllables. Kodaly was a Hungarian composer and music educator who believed everyone had the right to a good music education.
He came up with a set of ‘rhythmic syllables’ to help the teaching of rhythm and musical literacy. The syllables include:
ti = half a beat = Quaver
ta = one beat = Crotchet
ta-a= two beats = Minim
