Year 1 explored with earthenware clay. We discussed how the clay felt in our hands. As the clay started to be moulded in the children’s hands they noticed that it began to heat up. The children rolled the clay, imprinted their fingers in it, and created long worm like shapes. They likened the texture to slime, and some noticed the reaction from cold to hot very quickly! Some of the children tried to create small sculptures with the pieces they were given.
