Playing music doesn’t require traditional instruments!
Year 2 musicians have been focussing on mastering the rhythmic syllables ‘ti’ (half beat), ‘ta’ (full beat) and ‘ti-ka’ (two half-beats). We have been using our understanding of short and long sounds to create our own rhythmic patterns, or ‘ostinato’. We then used ‘found sounds’ (with an adult’s permission) to perform our ostinato. Found sounds can be anything from body percussion, to bucket drums and home made shakers.
