Day 3 at Trewern: Adventure Awaits!

This morning, our teachers once again played the role of alarm clocks, waking the children at 7 AM after a night of enthusiastic chatter—rumours suggested some were up until 2 AM! Despite the sleepy heads at breakfast, spirits were high. With no clocks or technology in the rooms, it’s a mystery how time flew by so quickly!

Today, we swapped activities, diving into bushcraft and gorge walking. During bushcraft, we learned essential life skills, including fire safety and survival tips—just in case we ever find ourselves stranded on a deserted island!

Our adventures took us along the stunning River Usk, where we explored its natural beauty, slid down rocks, and even jumped into pools and walked beneath waterfalls. The exhilaration was palpable! Upon our return to the bus, we were greeted with warm squash and cake, a well-deserved treat after an action-packed day.

Dinner tonight was a highlight: delicious leek and potato soup followed by hearty roast turkey with all the trimmings—potatoes, carrots, peas, and gravy. It was a resounding hit among the children!

Later, we opened the Trewern tuck shop, and the children enjoyed playing Supermarket Sweep as they packed their bags for the journey home. Tomorrow, we’re excited to walk into Hay-on-Wye for one last adventure before heading back to Monteagle.

Throughout this trip, the children have been outstanding, and the leaders here at Trewern have only praises for them. It’s truly been a trip of a lifetime—an eye-opening experience filled with valuable lessons and unforgettable memories.

We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow!
