As part of our bread unit, we are investigating the fascinating effects of yeast. After looking at the recipe for bread, we decided to investigate what happens when you add yeast to a warm sugar solution. After carefully planning our investigation, we used a magnifying glass along with our senses to observe the effects. We had a mixed reaction to the smell, which reminded us of a variety of things. After leaving the mixture in a warm area for fifteen minutes, we were amazed by the results. The mixture had bubbled and changed consistency and shape. We were left curious, and eager to find out more about yeast and it’s role in the bread baking process.
